Our History

Established in 1948, Betts Fishing Center has been a cornerstone of the Tampa Bay angling community for over seven decades. Originally situated on Bay Pines Blvd., the business underwent a transformation in 1992 when Mako's Tackle Supply, Inc. acquired it and rebranded it as Betts Fishing Center. By 1998, Betts had relocated to a modest retail space on Starkey Rd, with a primary focus on rod and reel repair and custom rod craftsmanship.

Since its move in 1998, Betts Fishing Center has steadily evolved and expanded its offerings to become a comprehensive angler's haven. From its humble beginnings, Betts now operates out of its own spacious 6000 square foot building, strategically located on the corner of Starkey Rd and 126th Ave. Here, anglers can explore an extensive inventory of top-tier fishing gear and equipment, receive expert advice from seasoned staff members, and take advantage of hassle-free warranty services.
